  Rosarito Beach

Rosarito Beach – The Jewel of Baja California

Just across the Mexican border Rosarito Beach is only 18 miles from the border via the beautiful Rosarito-Tijuana Scenic Road. A vacation in Rosarito Beach begins with a drive along the Pacific coast of the great Baja peninsula, a travel experience in itself.

Rosarito Beach is probably the most user-friendly city in Baja. Year round, enjoy an almost perfect climate with mild winters and balmy summers. There are only three traffic lights in the entire city, and almost everything of interest is in walking distance.

Rosarito Beach offers the amenities of top coastal resorts world-wide, yet maintains a comfortable casual attitude that lets you go anywhere and do anything in sandals and shorts. Accommodations in Rosarito Beach include Luxury beachfront resorts, private condos and villas, moderate and budget hotels. Down town Rosarito Beach near all the action and attractions you'll find popular hotels like the Festival Plaza Rosarito and Corona Plaza Rosarito or if you prefer a relaxing vacation try the New Port Beach Hotel or The Grand Baja Resorts in Puerto Nuevo. Oceanfront, ocean view, upscale or down-home, you'll find a great place to stay in the coastal Rosarito area that fits your lifestyle and your wallet.

Take in a round of Golf at Real Del Mar or Bajamar ocean-view courses or try your luck at Sport Fishing in Ensenada. For the ultimate relaxation, pamper yourself with a trip to the Spa at one of Rosarito Beach Spa Resorts.

At night, Rosarito Beach is the best fiesta in Baja California! There are authentic Mexican floor shows, karaoke bars, elegant night clubs  - or wild and crazy bars like Senor Frogs Rosarito  or  Papas & Beer Rosarito Beach, where you can ride a mechanical bull, play volleyball in the sand, dance under the stars, and party till dawn.

Shopping along Rosarito's main street is the best place in Baja California to buy handcrafted Mexican furniture. Stroll through the Mercado for arts and crafts, leathers and silver or roam the miracle mile of pottery, Guadalajara-cement statues, fountains, curios and rug and blanket weavers in an interesting mix of roadside shops just south of town.

Rosarito Beach boasts more than 85 quality restaurants serving international cuisine and Rosarito Specialties. Almost a million lobsters are served in the Rosarito coastal area each year. "Puerto Nuevo-style" is now a world-famous synonym for the exquisite lobster offered in our local restaurants. From traditional Mexican cuisine to the best Tacos you'll ever eat, Rosarito means great food at every turn.

Where:
20 minutes south of the border via the Rosarito-Ensenada toll road, recently renamed the Rosarito-Tijuana Scenic Road. (No matter what they call it, there's still a toll of about $2.05).

Best time to visit:
Year-round. The weather is similar to San Diego's coastal areas, with constant ocean breezes.

Cost:
Inexpensive by California standards and cheaper, overall, for hotels and meals than Tijuana.

Culture shock
None. Credit cards are accepted at most major restaurants and shops. English is spoken almost everywhere in the main tourist areas. Dollars are accepted everywhere.

Kid-friendly
Absolutely. The safe, small-town environment has lots of things for kids to do, including horseback riding and beach activities.
